MediaShelf's Role

MediaShelf controls ActiveFedora. This means that MediaShelf is responsible for
  • defining vision for ActiveFedora development
  • identifying fundamental problem sets
  • deciding which solutions will be incorporated into the gems
  • quality control
  • copyright

Community's Role

Community participants are fundamentally responsible for using ActiveFedora to create really great applications for their users. Meanwhile please call out what works and doesn't work within ActiveFedora.

Community contributions of improvements are welcome, subject to
  • quality control
  • features must apply to the core problem sets & named emphases
    • ie. schema-specific metadata management solutions should be created, maintained and distributed as separate gems, not extensions to ActiveFedora
  • community contributors must participate in open process
    • post features & bugs in project site
    • obey deadlines for submission of code
    • communicate about what you are doing and what your expectations are
  • MediaShelf retains copyright for all contributed code
