Did some cleanup and simplification. let me know if it still works for you (works for me here). Note changes on the wiki.

Fedora startup failed fedora.server.errors.ModuleInitializationException: Error while attempting to check for and create non-existing table(s): org.apache.commons.dbcp.SQLNestedException: Cannot create PoolableConnectionFactory (Unable to open configuration file: file://Volumes/fedora-solr-testing/fedora/mckoi1.0.3/db.conf)
I ran into this when I set up the original image. When you install Fedora, it sets $FEDORA_HOME within itself in various unknown locations, so FEDORA_HOME when you run it has to be the same as FEDORA_HOME when you installed it.
It also works fine if you leave a copy of Fedora in the install-time FEDORA_HOME and then set up a new FEDORA_HOME elsewhere. It must only use the install-time FEDORA_HOME to find dependencies.

yeah, ran into serious pain when i unmounted the original image. has to do w/ mckoi. i have it mostly tracked down....

PS: The disk image name doesn't match either.
Fedora is still looking for its dependencies within /Volumes/fedora-solr-testing/fedora but the disk image loads as /Volumes/fedora. Even if you run against the disk image, you have to either rename the disk image or re-install Fedora to look under the new disk image's name.

updated, give it a whirl.
all env variables are now hardcoded into theh catalina script.
wiki instructions updated (don't copy it out of the mounted FS, but rather make a copy of the whole FS and use that)

The current image works, but it runs out of room pretty quickly when you're running specs. In the specs, it just shows up as a bunch of 500 Internal Server Errors.
Possibly increase the image size by 10MB. This will probably be compressed out of it when you zip up the downloadable.
Regardless, it's extremely nice to be able to dump the bloated image in the trash and open a new one when you need a clean slate.
